Cornerworker and rider died when the cornerworker went on track to pick up a dead bird and the rider hit him. Both DOS.

My condonlensces go out to both families.  sad

They took the posting down at Jax forum. The last thing I read this morning was about a rider who spoke to another cornerworker that day after what happened. The cornerworker said that control did tell him to go out and get the debris.

Does anyone still have any word on who the worker was? The only name I have seen is Holly. I have heard about the rider, Sutton Helvey-Chandler. The rider that saw the whole thing right in front of him, nickname Tekno said that it was not a bird, it was a knee puck. I can't imagine what that rider feels like. Another cornerworker got on to voice his opinion and said he was done, due to the disrepect he read regarding the cornerworker who lost his life. I only assume the worker was at the corner by himself, other riders said there were no flags out. Wasn't what control told him putting him in harms way, assuming they knew he was by himself?

Also mentioned on the Jax forum is that Barber has cameras all over the track, and that this incident was recorded. It looks like this may remain a mystery, unless more riders and cornerworkers come forward with more details to piece this together. If it were one of my family members I would want to know how it happened.

It would be helpful if we knew all the facts.

Directly from the rider right behind Sutton and what he saw.
